Most Northerly Breeding Geese in the World There is only one population of Greater Snow Geese in the world. It is almost entirely confined to the Atlantic flyway of North America, stretching from the Arctic down to the United States Atlantic coast. During the breeding season (June to September), the Snow Geese live in the Canadian High Arctic, extending all the way up to Alert on northern Ellesmere Island and the northwest coast of Greenland. A full 1/3 of the entire population centers on Bylot Island in Lancaster Sound. This makes Greater Snow Geese the most northerly breeding geese in the world. When winter comes, they move down the flyway to the United States Atlantic coast.
